Delhi LG VK Saxena Approves School Upgradation Without Extra Charges

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has announced that primary and middle schools in Delhi can now upgrade to senior secondary level without paying additional charges to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). This decision aligns with a High Court ruling and aims to reduce bureaucratic hurdles for schools.

Key Details

The LG’s order exempts schools from paying extra Floor Area Ratio (FAR) charges, which often involve complex procedures with the Education Department and DDA. The DDA will modify lease deeds to reflect this change.

Standard Operating Procedure (SoP)

The DDA has issued a SoP for schools seeking upgradation. Schools must apply for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the DDA, along with permission from the Education Department, a certificate of affiliation from educational boards like CBSE or ICSE, and an Income Tax exemption certificate.

The DDA will ensure applicants have no pending dues and have not occupied additional areas before granting the NOC without extra FAR charges. Schools must also comply with Unified Building Bye-Laws (UBBL) norms and have their layout plans approved by the relevant authority.
