Delhi LG VK Saxena and Education Minister Atishi Discuss Teacher Transfers

On Sunday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena met with representatives from various government school teachers’ associations. He advised the Directorate of Education to take a fair view of recent transfer orders concerning teachers.

Raj Niwas Delhi, managed by the Delhi LG Secretariat, shared on its official X handle that VK Saxena is striving for better service conditions for government employees. He suggested that the recent transfer orders be paused for the time being.

Delhi Education Minister Atishi wrote to Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar on July 4, directing him to withdraw the transfer orders issued on July 2. She also asked to halt any further compulsory transfers of teachers who have completed 10 years in a particular school.

Atishi highlighted that nearly 5,000 teachers were transferred under a contentious clause requiring them to apply for transfer after 10 years in the same school. She called for disciplinary action against officers who defied previous directions and for an inquiry into potential corruption in the transfer process.
