Delhi High Court Reserves Order on Arvind Kejriwal’s Bail Plea in Excise Policy Case
The Delhi High Court has reserved its decision on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea in a CBI case related to the excise policy. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) opposed the bail, referring to Kejriwal as the ‘sutradhar’ of the case.

The bench of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna reserved the order after hearing submissions from both sides. CBI’s Special Counsel DP Singh informed the court that their investigation revealed more evidence implicating Kejriwal. A chargesheet was filed naming six individuals, including Kejriwal, but only he has been arrested so far.
CBI’s Claims
The CBI claims that Kejriwal is the central figure in the excise policy scam. Singh stated that Kejriwal, as the head of the cabinet, signed the excise policy and circulated it for approval during the COVID-19 pandemic. An IAS officer testified that Kejriwal was present when the policy was entered into the computer.
The investigation traced Rs 44 crore related to the case, allegedly sent to Goa, with Kejriwal instructing his candidates to focus on elections. Singh argued that witness testimonies and court statements indicate Kejriwal’s involvement, which emerged only after his arrest.
After the issue gained media attention, Kejriwal sought retroactive approval of the excise policy from the council of ministers.
