Delhi High Court Dismisses Kejriwal’s Plea, BJP Demands Resignation
New Delhi, August 5: The Delhi High Court has dismissed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Excise Policy case. Following this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded Kejriwal’s resignation.
BJP’s Reaction
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj stated that Kejriwal has no moral reason to continue as Delhi CM and should resign. She emphasized that the Delhi High Court confirmed Kejriwal’s involvement in receiving kickbacks in the Delhi Excise policy.
Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva called Kejriwal a ‘facilitator’ of the scam and welcomed the court’s verdict. He expressed hope that all accused in the scam would be behind bars soon.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari also supported the court’s decision, stating that there is sufficient proof of Kejriwal’s involvement in the scam.
CBI’s Stand
CBI’s special public prosecutor Advocate DP Singh defended the legality of Kejriwal’s arrest, stating that the investigation was thorough and timely. He mentioned that the CBI had traced Rs 44 crores related to the case and had sufficient evidence to implicate Kejriwal.
AAP’s Response
AAP Legal Cell head Sanjeev Nasiar expressed disagreement with the High Court’s decision and announced plans to approach the Supreme Court. He emphasized that this is a fight to save the Constitution and expressed confidence in emerging victorious.
