The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has formed a high-level committee to investigate the flooding of a coaching institute’s basement in Delhi’s old Rajinder Nagar, which led to the deaths of three civil services aspirants. The committee will examine the incident, identify responsible parties, and recommend preventive measures.
Details of the Incident
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday night when a nearby drain burst, causing the basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle to flood. The victims, Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Nivin Dalwin from Kerala, and Tanya Soni from Telangana, drowned due to the flooding.
Committee Formation
The committee will include the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the Principal Secretary (Home) of the Delhi government, the Special Commissioner of Police (Delhi Police), the Fire Advisor, and the Joint Secretary in the MHA as the convener. The committee is expected to submit its report within 30 days.
