Delhi Court Sends 11 Al Qaeda Suspects to Jail

On Thursday, Delhi’s Patiala House Court remanded 11 individuals in judicial custody until September 26. These individuals are accused of being part of an Al Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) module, allegedly led by Dr. Ishtiyaque Ahmed from Ranchi, Jharkhand.
The accused, including Anamul Ansari, Shanaz Ansari, Altaf Ansari, Hasan Ansari, Arshad Khan, Umar Farooq, Mohd Rizwan, Motiur Rehaman, Rehmatullahi, and Faizan Ahmed, were arrested in August. They were produced before the court after their police remand expired.
Delhi police requested their judicial custody to prevent further offenses, evidence tampering, and threats to related individuals. Investigating Officer ACP Rahul Vikram was present during the hearing, and various advocates represented the accused.
The suspects were reportedly staying in Rajasthan and were arrested in a coordinated operation by the Special Cell of Delhi Police and state police forces from Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The module aimed to declare Khilafat and execute terrorist activities in India.
Police recovered arms, ammunition, and other items, including an AK-47 rifle, a .38 bore revolver, live cartridges, a dummy INSAS, an air rifle, a hand grenade, and various other materials.
