Delhi Court Orders Medical Report for Dr. Ishteyaque Ahmed in AQIS Case
New Delhi [India], September 27: Delhi’s Patiala House Court has called for a medical report from Rohini Jail regarding Dr. Ishteyaque Ahmed. Dr. Ahmed, a Ranchi doctor, alleges his eardrum was damaged due to physical torture during police custody. He is an accused in the AQIS Training Module case and is in judicial custody along with ten others.
Medical Concerns
Additional Sessions Judge Dr. Hardeep Kaur requested the medical report and scheduled a hearing for Friday. Advocate Abu Baker Sabaq, representing Dr. Ahmed, stated that his client faces severe health issues, including high blood pressure and spinal pain, due to inadequate medical care. The plea seeks urgent medical treatment for Dr. Ahmed.
Judicial Custody Extended
The court extended the judicial remand of the eleven accused until October 9. The accused, including Dr. Ahmed, were produced in court after their previous custody expired. They are alleged members of a training module led by Dr. Ahmed, aspiring to declare Khilafat and execute terrorist activities.
Arrests and Operations
The accused were arrested in August during a coordinated operation by the Special Cell of Delhi Police and state forces from Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and UP. The operation led to the recovery of arms, ammunition, and literature, including an AK-47 rifle. Six individuals were detained in Rajasthan while undergoing weapon training, and eight suspects were detained from Jharkhand and UP for questioning.
