Delhi Court Grants Parole to Gangster Kala Jatheri for Mother’s Funeral

New Delhi [India], July 3: Delhi’s Patiala House Court has granted six hours of custody parole to gangster Sandeep, also known as Kala Jatheri, to attend the funeral and perform the last rites of his mother, Kamla Devi, in his village, Jatheri, Sonipat, Haryana.

Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh made the decision on humanitarian grounds, allowing Kala Jatheri to participate in the funeral on July 4, 2024, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, excluding travel time. The court emphasized that he should not meet anyone else or go anywhere other than the funeral site.

The court also directed that police officials accompanying Kala Jatheri should not be in uniform to maintain the dignity of the ceremony, although other security personnel can be in uniform and stay outside the venue. Adequate safety and security measures are to be ensured by the jail authorities and local police.

Advocate Rohit Dalal, representing Kala Jatheri, had moved the application for parole, stating that his presence was necessary to perform the religious rituals and console his family.

In March, Sandeep and Anuradha Chaudhary got married in Delhi under heavy police security.
