Delhi Court Extends Arvind Kejriwal’s Custody in Excise Policy Case
The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has extended Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody until August 8 in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. Kejriwal, who is currently in Tihar Jail, appeared before the court via video conferencing. His previous custody was set to end today.
Earlier, on July 18, the Delhi High Court reserved its decision on Kejriwal’s plea for two additional legal meetings with his lawyers through video conferencing. This plea was opposed by the counsel for jail authorities and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Justice Neena Bansal Krishna reserved the order after hearing submissions from both parties. Senior advocate Ramesh Gupta represented Arvind Kejriwal.
On July 1, the Rouse Avenue Court denied Kejriwal’s request for two additional meetings with his lawyers through video conferencing from Tihar Jail. Special judge Kaveri Baweja dismissed the application moved on behalf of Arvind Kejriwal.
