Delhi Court Calls for Report on Dispute Between Bina Modi’s PSO and Son Samir Modi

New Delhi, June 27: A court in Delhi has asked for an Action Taken Report (ATR) regarding a complaint filed by Surender Prasad Ram, the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of industrialist Bina Modi, against her younger son, Samir Modi. The PSO has requested an investigation and the registration of a non-cognizable report (NCR) against Samir Modi.

Background

Surender Prasad Ram, who has served in the CRPF for 20 years and the NSG for two years, is currently working as Bina Modi’s PSO. He has accused Samir Modi of physical assault and verbal abuse during an incident on May 30, 2024, at the office of Godfrey Phillips India Ltd. (GPIL) in New Delhi.

Incident Details

According to the complaint, the incident occurred when Samir Modi tried to enter a meeting room without permission. The PSO, who was stationed at the door, requested Samir Modi to wait while he sought permission for his entry. This allegedly enraged Samir Modi, leading to verbal abuse and physical assault on the PSO.

Legal Proceedings

Metropolitan Magistrate Aridaman Singh Cheema has directed the Delhi police to file an ATR. The next hearing is scheduled for July 12. Senior advocate Vikas Pahwa, representing the PSO, argued that the police had not acted on previous complaints filed on May 31 and June 4, 2024. However, an FIR was lodged based on a complaint by Samir Modi, who accused the PSO of assaulting him on May 30, 2024, resulting in a grievous injury to his index finger.

Courtroom Evidence

During the hearing, CCTV footage of the incident was shown, which allegedly supports the PSO’s claims. The footage shows the interaction between Samir Modi and the PSO during the incident.

Current Status

The PSO claims to have suffered physical and mental harm and remains fearful for his safety. The court has called for a detailed report to be submitted by the police.
