Delhi Court Awaits Forensic Report for 5 Years, Recommends Action Against Officer
A Delhi Court has been waiting for a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report for five years in a case of obstructing a public way. The court has recommended departmental action against Investigation Officer Parveen Kumar for delays and issued notices to expedite the inquiry.
This case pertains to an FIR registered at Police Station Sadar Bazar in 2019 and is currently at the stage of arguments on charge. Judicial Magistrate Gaurav Goyal stated that IO/SI Parveen Kumar has deliberately failed to take steps despite repeated reminders from the court.
The court has directed that a copy of the order be sent to the Joint Commissioner of Police, Central Range, for a reply under his personal signature. A fresh notice has also been issued to IO/SI Vikash Rathi, SHO PS Sadar Bazar, and ACP Sadar Bazar to appear in person at the next hearing.
The court noted that the FSL result is still not ready and has listed the matter for hearing in the last week of September.
