In New Delhi, just before the Delhi Assembly elections, two staff members from the Chief Minister's office were detained by the police after being found with Rs 5 lakh in cash. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, and the elections are set to begin on Wednesday morning.
Details of the Incident
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South East, Ravi Kumar Singh, the police received a tip-off about the cash. A Flying Squad Team (FST) was dispatched and caught the two individuals, Gaurav and Ajit, who are linked to the Delhi CM's office. The cash was seized, and an investigation is ongoing.
Statements from Officials
Mr. Gaurav claimed the money was received from Mr. Pankaj, PA to Ms. Atishi, for booth management in Giri Nagar, Kalkaji. The DEO/DM South-East confirmed the incident on social media, stating that the cash was seized and further investigation is underway.
Security Measures for Elections
Delhi police have increased security to ensure smooth polling. Special CP DC Srivastava mentioned that all parties have reached their polling booths, and the police are ensuring free and fair elections. DCP South, Ankit Chauhan, stated that patrolling has intensified, and border checks are in place to prevent illegal activities.

Flag marches were conducted in Shahpur Jat village, and social media is being monitored. Over 1 crore in cash and a significant amount of illicit liquor have been seized. Joint CP Law and Order, Noida Shiv Hari Meena, noted that border checks are being conducted with senior officers present.
