Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Seeks Wife’s Presence via Video Call During Medical Consultation
The Rouse Avenue court has reserved its decision on the plea of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who requested that his wife be allowed to attend his medical consultations through video conferencing. Kejriwal, currently in judicial custody, appeared via video conferencing from Tihar Jail and addressed the court.
The court, presided over by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, will announce its decision on July 6. Kejriwal’s judicial custody, along with Vinod Chauhan’s, has been extended until July 12. Both will be produced via video conferencing at 2 PM.
Advocate Vikas Jain argued on behalf of Kejriwal, while the Enforcement Directorate’s special public prosecutors, NK Matta and Simon Benjamin, opposed the application. Advocate Vivek Jain contended that there is no harm in allowing Kejriwal’s wife to be present via video call during the medical consultations by the AIIMS Medical Board.
Kejriwal emphasized that his wife is needed to understand the medical advice and instructions, which are crucial for his care. He stated that the plea is based on humanitarian grounds, as his wife is his natural attendant.
