Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva Responds to AAP’s Allegations on Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest
New Delhi [India], June 30: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has denied the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) allegation that the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the excise policy case is a conspiracy. Sachdeva stated that central agencies are doing their duty and that courts make decisions based on evidence.
Sachdeva said, “The court’s decision is given after examining the evidence. The central agencies are doing their work. If you have committed a crime, you have to be ready to pay for it.” He also accused the AAP government in Delhi of corruption, mentioning issues like uncleaned drains and waterlogging.
The Delhi Court sent Arvind Kejriwal to CBI judicial custody until July 12. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) welcomed the court’s decision, while the AAP called it a conspiracy by the BJP. AAP leader Sanjay Singh described the CBI’s arguments as “imaginary stories” and said they do not hold up in court.
Delhi Environment Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai also called the arrest a conspiracy, stating that AAP ministers and the CM have been jailed in fake cases. He mentioned that the Trial Court had given bail to Kejriwal, but the bail was stayed without a hearing by the High Court.
Advocate Rishikesh Kumar said that Kejriwal was produced before the court because his three-day CBI custody ended. The CBI sought a judicial remand, which was opposed by Kejriwal’s legal team. The court agreed to provide Kejriwal with his diabetes medicines, test kits, and home-cooked food. A bail application will be moved soon.
The AAP held a nationwide protest against Kejriwal’s arrest by the CBI in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy case.
