Delhi BJP President Questions Kejriwal’s Hold on Sheesh Mahal Bungalow
On October 7, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva released a letter from the Public Works Department (PWD) to Prashant Ranjan Jha, Special Secretary of the Chief Minister’s Office. The letter expressed surprise that Arvind Kejriwal had not vacated the Sheesh Mahal bungalow at 6 Flagstaff Road, a symbol of alleged corruption.
Sachdeva criticized Kejriwal’s public display of leaving the bungalow, claiming it was a sympathy ploy. He noted that the bungalow is not designated for the Chief Minister but is a common pool property under PWD. A vigilance investigation is ongoing regarding its reconstruction.
According to Sachdeva, the bungalow should have been vacated with keys handed to PWD Section Officer Vijay Kumar, but they were only handed over for cameras. Special Secretary Jha later retrieved them. Protocol requires an inventory and videography when vacating a government bungalow, which was not done.
Current Chief Minister Atishi Marlena has requested the bungalow for herself, raising questions about her intentions. Sachdeva urged the PWD to take possession of the bungalow with police assistance and ensure the process is videographed. He challenged Kejriwal to hand over the bungalow if he has nothing to hide.
