Delhi BJP President Criticizes Minister for Calling CM Kejriwal a Modern-Day Freedom Fighter
Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva criticized Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot for calling Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a modern-day freedom fighter during an Independence Day speech. Sachdeva argued that Gahlot’s speech was political and insulted democracy and the Constitution. He suggested that comparing Kejriwal to Mughal ruler Nadir Shah would have been more appropriate.
Sachdeva stated, “Whether it was his mention of old electricity and water schemes in the Independence Day speech or the use of language like forces against the nation trying to stop Kejriwal, everything seemed like political propaganda.” He added that Gahlot’s comparison of Kejriwal to freedom fighters was shameful and hurt the sentiments of thousands of freedom fighters and their families.
Earlier in the day, Gahlot defended Kejriwal, calling him a champion against poverty and illiteracy. Gahlot said, “Arvind Kejriwal is a modern freedom fighter. He accepted going to jail as punishment for something he did not do but did not accept bowing down in front of those who violated democracy.”
