Delhi BJP Criticizes Education Minister Atishi Over Parent-Teacher Meetings
Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokespersons Praveen Shankar Kapoor and Shikha Rai have accused Education Minister Atishi of using Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) in Delhi government schools for political purposes. Kapoor stated, “PTMs are a standard part of the educational system, but there’s no drama over them like in Delhi government schools.”
According to the BJP, the attendance of ministers and MLAs at school PTMs is an attempt to politically exploit the education system. They claimed that Atishi’s attempts to connect with parents in her constituency, Kalkaji, were unsuccessful, as the people of Kalkaji have rejected the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in recent elections.
BJP spokespersons further alleged that AAP is more focused on creating drama over education, health, and public welfare rather than addressing real issues. They mentioned that parents in municipal corporation schools are concerned about school uniforms, and parents in government schools are worried about increasing failure rates. However, the Education Minister and school administration were more focused on getting applause for themselves.
Additionally, Delhi BJP Secretary and MP Bansuri Swaraj accused Atishi of spreading lies and misinformation regarding the allocation to Delhi in the Union Budget 2024. Swaraj stated that the central government has undertaken development works worth Rs 5.5 lakh crore in Delhi over the last 10 years, but Atishi continues to spread misinformation.
