Delhi BJP Chief Virendraa Sachdeva Criticizes Minister Atishi’s Hunger Strike Over Water Crisis

Delhi unit BJP Chief Virendraa Sachdeva has called the indefinite hunger strike by Delhi Minister Atishi a ‘political drama’ aimed at distracting from alleged water theft. Sachdeva stated that the Haryana government is releasing more water than required, contradicting Atishi’s claims.

Atishi, who is also the Water Minister in the Delhi government, began her hunger strike on Friday at Bhogal, near Jangpura. She claims that Haryana has reduced its water supply to Delhi, causing a severe shortage affecting over 28 lakh people. Atishi said, ‘I tried everything but when the Haryana government didn’t agree to supply water, I was left with no choice but to sit on a fast.’

Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, read a message from her husband, who is under judicial custody. The message expressed his concern over the water scarcity and support for Atishi’s efforts. ‘Kejriwal says that when I see on TV, the way Delhi people are suffering due to water scarcity, it hurts me. I hope Atishi’s ‘tapasya’ will succeed and residents of Delhi will get relief,’ she stated.
