Delhi Battles Severe Air Pollution
In New Delhi, Public Work Department vehicles have been sprinkling water to reduce dust as air pollution levels rise. The Commission for Air Quality Management has activated Stage II of the GRAP Action Plan, which includes daily mechanical sweeping and water sprinkling on identified roads.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded at 352, categorized as ‘very poor’. In Anand Vihar, the AQI reached 405, marked as ‘severe’, worsening from 367 the previous day. Other areas like Akshardham Temple and IGI airport also reported ‘very poor’ AQI levels.
Public Reactions
Himanshu, a visitor, described the pollution as ‘suffocating’ and urged the government to take action. A local cyclist expressed difficulties in breathing and fatigue, despite taking precautions like wearing a bandana. He suggested that the government should promote public transport and carpooling.
