Delhi Assembly Elections: Paid Holiday Announced, Security Tightened
In New Delhi, a paid holiday has been declared for employees in both government and private sectors as polling for 70 assembly seats is scheduled for Wednesday. This decision also applies to neighboring states Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Delhi Chief Electoral Officer R Alice Vaz emphasized the importance of voting, urging citizens to participate in the elections.
To ensure transparency, all polling stations will be monitored via CCTV cameras from the Election Commission's monitoring room in Delhi. The Delhi police have increased preparations to ensure smooth polling. Special CP DC Srivastava confirmed that all parties are ready at their polling booths, and measures are in place to ensure free and fair elections.
Security forces conducted a flag march in Shahpur Jat village, with DCP South Ankit Chauhan stating that patrolling has been intensified in densely populated areas. Border checks have been increased to prevent illegal activities, and social media is being monitored for any suspicious activity. Significant seizures of cash, illicit liquor, and narcotics have been made.
Joint CP Law and Order, Noida Shiv Hari Meena, mentioned that joint checks with Delhi Police are being conducted at 11 border points to ensure security during the elections.
