Delhi and Hockey Bengal Shine in Junior Women National Championship 2024
On Day 7 of the 14th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2024, held in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Delhi and Hockey Bengal emerged victorious in their respective matches. Delhi Hockey defeated Le Puducherry Hockey 2-1 in Pool D, with goals from Pooja and Anshika. Riya scored for Le Puducherry. In Pool E, Hockey Bengal triumphed over Hockey Bihar 9-1, with Horo Selestina scoring four goals. Z Laldintluangi, Captain Subila Tirkey, Ekka Jamuna, and Shivani Kumari also contributed to the score. Fensi Khatun scored for Hockey Bihar.
In other matches, Hockey Uttarakhand beat Kerala Hockey 3-1 in Pool A, with Prachi scoring twice and Aarti adding another goal. Kerala’s Shanusha P M scored once. Manipur Hockey defeated Assam Hockey 6-3 in Pool C, with goals from Tanu Shorensangbam, Devi Keisam Eleena, Chanu Romita Waribam, Reena Koijam, and Devi Laishram Ritu. Assam’s goals came from Joymoti Gorh, Sagarika Barman, and Captain Ashmita Tigga.
The quarter-final matches are set to begin on October 7, featuring clashes between Hockey Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Hockey Jharkhand and Hockey Maharashtra, Hockey Haryana and Hockey Punjab, and Chhattisgarh Hockey against the Hockey Association of Odisha.
