Delhi Airport Roof Collapse: Congress Blames Corruption, BJP Responds
On Friday morning, a part of the roof at Terminal 1 of Delhi Airport collapsed, resulting in one death and several injuries. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge attributed the incident to ‘corruption’ and ‘criminal negligence,’ criticizing Prime Minister Modi’s claims of creating ‘World Class Infrastructure.’ Kharge noted that the collapsed portion was inaugurated by the PM on March 10.
Kharge listed several other incidents, including the Jabalpur airport roof collapse and the Morbi bridge collapse, to support his claims. He expressed condolences to the victims, blaming the government for the tragedy.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi also criticized the quality of recent construction works inaugurated by the PM, questioning whether the PM would take responsibility for these incidents.
In response, BJP leader Amit Malviya and the Civil Aviation Minister clarified that the collapsed part of Terminal 1 was built in 2009 under the Congress-led UPA government. They emphasized that the building inaugurated by PM Modi was on the other side of the airport.
The incident occurred during heavy rains in the Delhi-NCR region.
