Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Approves New Navigation System and Boats for Indian Army and Coast Guard

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, held a meeting on Monday to discuss various capital acquisition proposals.

Advanced Land Navigation System for Armoured Fighting Vehicles

The Ministry of Defence announced the approval for the procurement of an Advanced Land Navigation System (ALNS) for Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) of the Indian Army. The ALNS Mk-II is highly secure with advanced encryption and is compatible with the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS, NavIC), Global Positioning System (GPS), and Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS). This system will be sourced from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in Chennai under the Buy [Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured (IDDM)] category.

New Interceptor Boats for Indian Coast Guard

To enhance the capabilities of the Indian Coast Guard, the DAC approved the procurement of 22 Interceptor Boats. These boats are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art systems for quick interception and shallow water operations. They will be used for coastal surveillance, patrolling, search and rescue operations, and medical evacuations.
