Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Admitted to AIIMS for Back Pain
New Delhi [India], July 11: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday morning after he complained of back pain. The hospital confirmed that he is stable and currently under observation.
AIIMS Delhi stated, “Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was admitted to the old private ward, early morning today, with a complaint of back pain. He is stable and under observation.”
Rajnath Singh, who turned 73 on Wednesday, is a Member of Parliament from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He is serving his second term as Defence Minister. Previously, he was the Union Home Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first term in 2014.
Singh has had a long political career, including serving as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Minister of Education in Uttar Pradesh, Minister of Surface Transport in the Union Cabinet, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Minister of Agriculture in the Union Cabinet. He was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009 and served on the Committee on Ethics.
