Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Highlights Importance of Jammu and Kashmir Elections

Gurez (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 29: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the significance of the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as a demonstration of India’s democracy and strength. Speaking at a public rally in Gurez, Bandipore, Singh highlighted the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) launched by PM Modi in 2015, which has significantly increased funding for the region.

Singh quoted former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, stating, “When Insaniyat, Jamuhriyat, and Kashmiriyat come together, no one can stop Kashmir from becoming heaven again.” He stressed the importance of voter participation, ensuring that every individual casts their vote.

Addressing the relationship with Pakistan, Singh mentioned that if relations were better, India would have provided more financial aid to Pakistan than what they sought from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He criticized Pakistan for its involvement in terrorist activities in Kashmir and warned that India is prepared to combat terrorism beyond its borders if necessary.

Singh also targeted the opposition parties, National Conference (NC) and Congress, for their promises to restore Article 370 if they come to power. He asserted that only the Central Government has the authority to reinstate it. He highlighted the positive changes in the region, including increased tourism and the establishment of educational institutions like IIM and IIT.

In conclusion, Singh praised the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for their progress, noting that they are now holding computers instead of stones. He accused the NC, Congress, and PDP of focusing solely on their political interests and neglecting the welfare of the people.
