New Delhi [India], September 24: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the 41st Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Commanders’ Conference at the Coast Guard Headquarters. The conference is scheduled from September 24 to 26.

This annual event is a crucial forum for ICG Senior Commanders to discuss strategic, operational, and administrative matters, especially in the context of changing geopolitical landscapes and maritime security complexities. According to the Ministry of Defence, the conference plays a vital role in shaping the future of the ICG.

During the event, the Defence Minister interacted with ADG S Paramesh, Director General ICG (Addl. Charge), and other senior Coast Guard Commanders on key issues concerning national and maritime security. Singh highlighted the impact of technological advancements like Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technology, and drones on security. He stressed the need for vigilance and readiness against increasing maritime threats.

The ICG Commanders also had the opportunity to engage with the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of the Naval Staff, and the Engineer-in-Chief. These discussions aim to foster collaboration across the full spectrum of maritime security and promote the growth and infrastructure development of the Indian Coast Guard.

The conference provides a platform for senior ICG leaders to evaluate key operational, material, logistical, HR development, training, and administrative initiatives undertaken over the past year. They will also discuss essential milestones for protecting maritime interests.

Emphasizing the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the Commanders will assess ongoing ICG projects aimed at boosting indigenization, aligning with the Government of India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The Commanders’ Conference underscores the Indian Coast Guard’s commitment to safeguarding India’s maritime interests and reaffirms its role as the guardian of the nation’s maritime frontiers.
