Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Inaugurates New Sainik School in Jaipur

On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a new Sainik School in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The event was also attended by Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari.

Government’s Plan for New Sainik Schools

During his speech, Rajnath Singh announced the Union government’s decision to open 100 new Sainik Schools under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. He emphasized the significant role of the private sector in this initiative.

“Under the leadership of PM Modi, the government has decided to start 100 Sainik Schools… The Sainik Schools used to be established and run by the joint practices of central and state governments. But these new schools will be established and run according to the PPP Model (private, public, partnership) …I have put the ‘private’ word first, as the private sector is playing a major role in the country,” said Rajnath Singh.

Importance of the Private Sector

Singh highlighted the growing contribution of the private sector in India’s development. “Private sector contribution is growing and 50% of India’s workforce is in the private sector. Private sector contribution in manufacturing and services. Private sector is in the driver seat,” he added.

Success of Sainik School Alumni

The Defence Minister also praised the achievements of Sainik School alumni, mentioning that the current Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Naval Staff are both alumni of Sainik School Rewa. “Sainik school gave many notable alumni —Army chief Upendra Dwivedi and Navy chief Dinesh Tripathi studied in Sainik school. Students from Sainik School can enter any walk of life and field,” he said.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, MP Manju Sharma, former MP Ramcharan Bohra, and former Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore.

The new Sainik School in Jaipur is part of the Government’s vision to set up 100 new Sainik Schools across the country in partnership with NGOs, state governments, and private schools.
