Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Visits Naval Surface Warfare Centre in Tennessee
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during his tour of the US, visited the William B Morgan Large Cavitation Channel (LCC) at the Naval Surface Warfare Centre (NSWC) in Memphis, Tennessee. The LCC is one of the world’s largest and most advanced water tunnel facilities for testing submarines, torpedoes, naval surface ships, and propellers. Singh was briefed at the facility and witnessed a tunnel experiment.
In a post on X, the Defence Ministry shared, ‘Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh visits Naval Surface Warfare Centre in US.’ Singh was accompanied by the Ambassador of India to the US, the Director General of Naval Operations from the Indian Navy, and the DRDO Defence Technology Counsellor. He was received by the US Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy for Policy and briefed by the Commander and Technical Director of the NSWC.
Rajnath Singh also met US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan at the White House in Washington, DC. They discussed the evolving geopolitical situation and key regional security issues. The discussions aimed to support the establishment of similar facilities for indigenous design and development in India and ongoing defence industrial collaboration projects between India and the US.
Additionally, Singh interacted with senior leaders of the US defence industry at a round-table organized by the US India Strategic Partnership Forum in Washington DC. He emphasized that India welcomes US investment and technology collaboration, highlighting India’s skilled human resource base, pro-FDI and pro-business ecosystem, and large domestic market. Singh also briefly met a delegation from the US India Business Council.
