Deepthi Jeevanji Shines in 400m, Sumit Antil Breaks Record in Javelin at Paris Paralympics

Indian athlete Deepthi Jeevanji finished first in the women’s 400m-T20 round 1 with a time of 55.45 seconds, qualifying for the final. Kanchan Lakhani, however, finished seventh in the women’s discus throw – F53 event, with her best attempt being 10.06 meters.

Brazil’s Elizabeth Rodrigues Gomes won gold in the discus throw with a record-breaking throw of 17.37 meters. Japan’s Keiko Onidani and Ukraine’s Zoia Ovsii took silver and bronze, respectively.

In the men’s javelin throw F64 final, Sumit Antil broke his own Paralympic record twice, first with a throw of 69.11 meters and then with a record-breaking 70.59 meters, securing India’s third gold at the Paris Paralympics.

Additionally, Nitesh Kumar won gold in the men’s singles SL3 badminton category, and Avani Lekhra secured India’s first gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final.
