India will be sending six archers to the Paris Olympics this year after securing quotas in both men’s and women’s recurve events. This is the first time since the 2012 London Games that India will have a full team of archers.

Veteran Archers

Deepika Kumari and Tarundeep Rai will be making their fourth appearance at the Olympics. Deepika has been a consistent part of the Indian archery team since 2012 and returned to competitive archery after becoming a mother in December 2022. Tarundeep Rai, now 40, made his Olympics debut in 2004 and also competed in 2012 and 2020.

New Faces

Pravin Jadhav will make his second Olympics appearance after Tokyo 2020. Dhiraj Bommadevara and Bhajan Kaur, who secured individual quotas in recent qualifiers, will be making their Olympic debuts. Ankita Bhakat will also debut in Paris.

Qualification and Events

India secured team quotas through world rankings, allowing them to compete in five medal events: men’s and women’s team events, the mixed team event, and individual competitions. The archery competition will start with the individual ranking round on July 25, a day before the Opening Ceremony, and continue from July 28 to August 4 at Les Invalides.
