The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in India has announced that the last date for declaring exotic animals listed under Schedule IV of the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972, is August 28, 2024. This rule requires everyone who owns any living specimen of these species to report the details and submit an application for registration electronically through the PARIVESH 2.0 portal.

The six-month period for reporting started from the gazette notification issued on February 28, 2024. Therefore, all concerned individuals, organizations, and zoos must take quick action to report their exotic animals to the Chief Wild Life Warden of their state to avoid penalties for non-compliance.
