David Warner and Babar Azam to Star in GT20 Canada 2024 Cricket Tournament
The GT20 Canada 2024 cricket tournament is set to take place in Brampton, Ontario from July 25 to August 11. This event aims to popularize cricket in North America and will feature international stars like David Warner, Babar Azam, and Shaheen Afridi, alongside local talents.

The GT20 Canada has established itself on the Canadian, North American, and global cricket calendars. It provides a platform to showcase the growth of the sport, especially following Canada’s historic debut at the ICC T20 World Cup.
Star Players
The tournament will feature multiple-time world champions Australia’s leading cricketers, David Warner and Marcus Stoinis, Pakistan heavyweights Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi, Caribbean stars Sunil Narine and Carlos Brathwaite, Bangladesh great Shakib Al Hasan, and the Afghan duo Mohammad Nabi and Naveen-ul-Haq.
Local Talent
The entire Canadian national squad will participate, including team captain Saad Bin Zafar, top run-scorer Nicholas Kirton, and Aaron Johnson. Andries Gous and Harmeet Singh Baddhan, who were instrumental in the United States’ ICC T20 World Cup campaign, will also join.

Gurmeet Singh Bhamrah, founder of GT20 Canada, emphasized the league’s role in developing Canadian and North American cricket. Joy Bhattacharya, CEO of GT20 Canada, added that the league aims to unlock the potential for cricketing growth in the region by attracting global superstars and providing a platform for local talent.
Team Composition
Each of the six franchises has picked six players from ICC Full Member Nations and four from Associate Nations, along with eight Canadian players. David Warner will headline the Brampton Wolves squad, while Shaheen Afridi will bolster the Toronto Nationals. Babar Azam will lead the Vancouver Knights, and Marcus Stoinis and Sunil Narine will add power to the Surrey Jaguars. The Bangla Tigers Mississauga will feature Shakib Al Hasan, and the Montreal Tigers will include Naveen-ul-Haq, Chris Lynn, and Sherfane Rutherford.
