Train Cancellations Announced

Due to the high-intensity cyclonic storm ‘Dana’, the East Coast Railway and Northeast Frontier Railway have cancelled three trains. These include Train No. 22883 Puri-Yesvantpur Garib Rath Weekly Express on October 25, 2024, Train No. 22884 Yesvantpur-Puri Garib Rath Weekly Express on October 26, 2024, and Train No. 12510 Guwahati-SMVT Bengaluru Tri-weekly Express on October 27, 2024.

Government’s Safety Measures

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the government’s efforts to ensure safety as Cyclone Dana approaches. The government aims for zero casualties and has evacuated over 3 lakh people. More than 7,000 cyclone shelters are ready, and over 2,300 pregnant women have been relocated to safer areas. Medical and veterinary teams, along with police, are deployed to provide security.

High-Level Meeting and NDRF Deployment

Chief Minister Majhi chaired a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar to review preparedness. Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Suresh Pujari, attended the meeting. NDRF Deputy Inspector General Mohsen Shahedi reported that 20 teams are in Odisha and 17 in West Bengal to prepare for Cyclone Dana’s landfall.
