The cyclone struck the Odisha coast, causing damage by uprooting trees and snapping power lines. Tragically, one person lost their life in West Bengal. The storm made landfall between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra with wind speeds reaching 100-110 kmph.
Odisha’s Preparedness
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi reported no casualties in the state, attributing this success to effective planning and execution. Over six lakh people were relocated to safer areas, and airport services resumed with the first flight landing at 9 a.m. Road blockages are expected to be cleared by 1 p.m.
