The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported winds at 100-110 kmph, gusting to 120 kmph. The cyclone moved north-northwest at 12 kmph, centered over north coastal Odisha. The landfall process is expected to continue for 1-2 hours, with the cyclone weakening by the forenoon of October 25.
Government Response
Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari, stated that 10 districts, 60 blocks, 2131 villages, and 12 urban local bodies are likely to be affected. The evacuation process is complete, with 377,000 people relocated to 7307 relief centers. Additionally, 6454 domestic animals have been moved to safety, and 213 medical teams are on standby.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the state’s preparedness with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, ensuring central support. Odisha has set up 5209 cyclone shelters and evacuated over 362,000 people, including 3654 pregnant women. Nineteen NDRF, 51 ODRAF, and 220 Fire Services teams are deployed to assist.
