As Cyclone Dana is expected to hit the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal by Thursday, the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) has been deployed in Cuttack. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts the cyclone will intensify by Wednesday and reach the northwest Bay of Bengal by Thursday morning.

ODRAF’s Preparedness

An ODRAF member stated that the team is well-equipped for rescue operations, with high morale and readiness. The team has been divided into three groups in Cuttack to ensure efficient operations.

Government’s Measures

Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari, assured that the state government has prepared 250 relief centers to accommodate evacuees. Additional makeshift shelters have also been set up. The telecom and health departments are working to maintain services during the cyclone.

Chief Minister’s Assurance

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the goal of zero casualties and assured that the government is fully prepared. Evacuation plans are in place, and essential services will be restored promptly. The government is monitoring the situation closely to prevent any disruption in essential supplies.
