Cristiano Ronaldo’s Future with Portugal Uncertain After EURO 2024 Loss to France
Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to decide on his future with Portugal after their disappointing exit from the EURO Cup 2024. Fans are speculating that the 39-year-old might retire from Portuguese football following their loss against France in the quarterfinals.
Portugal, led by Ronaldo, kept the game 0-0 until full time, but lost 5-3 in the penalty shootout. Ronaldo did not score any goals in the tournament, although he provided one assist.
Head coach Roberto Martinez mentioned that no decision has been made regarding Ronaldo’s retirement. He stated, “No. Everything is too raw. We are still suffering the defeat. There’s no individual decision at this point.”
Portugal dominated the match with 60% ball possession, but ultimately lost in penalties after Joao Felix missed a crucial shot.
