CPI’s D Raja Welcomes Bail for Former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren in Land Scam Case
Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], June 29: CPI General Secretary D Raja welcomed the decision to grant bail to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in the alleged land scam case. Raja stated that Soren’s release would strengthen the INDIA bloc, criticizing the central government for using agencies to target opposition parties.
JMM MP Mahua Maji emphasized Soren’s popularity in Jharkhand and criticized BJP’s actions, stating that Soren’s release has generated enthusiasm among the public. She mentioned several schemes launched during Soren’s tenure, such as the Guruji credit card and Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana.
Earlier, the Jharkhand High Court granted bail to Hemant Soren, who was arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement in January on charges related to an alleged land scam and money laundering. Soren was released from Birsa Munda Jail following the bail order.
The investigation involves allegations of generating substantial proceeds through forgery of official records, involving fake sellers and buyers to acquire large parcels of land. The ED claimed to have recovered Rs 36 lakh in cash and documents related to the investigation, alleging Soren’s involvement in fraudulent land acquisitions.
