New Delhi [India], August 4: CPI General Secretary D Raja has criticized BJP leader Gyandev Ahuja for his remarks linking the Wayanad landslides to cow slaughter practices in Kerala. Raja accused the BJP of trying to communalize the tragedy, emphasizing the need for relief efforts to help the affected people with food, shelter, and medicines.

The Indian Air Force, Army, and Coast Guard conducted a coordinated rescue operation, saving three people stranded at Soochipara Waterfalls in Wayanad. The death toll from the landslides, which occurred on July 30, stands at 308. Kerala Health Minister Veena George reported that 215 bodies and 143 body parts have been recovered, with 148 bodies identified so far.
