CPIM MP V Sivadasan Receives Threatening Call from Sikhs For Justice
New Delhi [India], July 22: V Sivadasan, a Rajya Sabha MP from Kerala representing the Communist Party of India (Marxist), reported receiving a threatening call from a group claiming to be Sikhs For Justice. The call was received on July 21, 2024, at 11:30 pm while he was at the IGI Airport Lounge with AA Rahim MP.
In his letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, V Sivadasan stated, “I have received a threatening call from an unknown number claiming itself to be on behalf of Sikhs for Justice.” The caller threatened to bombard the Indian Parliament and Red Fort area with messages about the Khalistan referendum, urging MPs to stay home if they did not want to experience it. The message was attributed to Gurpatwantsingh Pannun, Sikhs for Justice, General Council.
V Sivadasan informed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of New Delhi District and filed an official complaint. He requested the Rajya Sabha Chairman to take note of the matter and take necessary action.
On July 9, the Ministry of Home Affairs extended the ban on Sikhs For Justice for another five years, citing their involvement in anti-national activities aimed at disrupting India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The ban was initially imposed in 2019 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
