Sitaram Yechury, the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), is currently being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. According to a press release from the party’s Central Committee office, Yechury is under the care of a team of specialist doctors for a respiratory infection.

Yechury was admitted to AIIMS on August 19, 2024. Initially, he was taken to the emergency ward and later moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The hospital has not disclosed the exact nature of his illness. Recently, Yechury had undergone cataract surgery.
