CPI(M) Announces Candidates for Jharkhand Assembly Elections

In preparation for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has revealed its list of nine candidates. These candidates will compete in constituencies such as Tamar, Baharagora, Mandar, Jama, Pakur, Jamtara, Mahespur, Sisai, and Chatra. Notably, five of these constituencies, including Tamar, Sisai, Mahespur, Jama, and Mandar, are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST), while Chatra is reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC).

The CPI(M) candidates have already filed their nominations in Tamar, Sisai, Mandar, and Baharagora. The candidates include Suresh Munda for Tamar, Sapan Mahato for Baharagora, Madhuwa Kachhap for Sisai, Pun Bhuiyo for Chatra, Lakhan Lal Mandal for Jamtara, Md. Shekh Saifuddin for Pakur, Gopin Soren for Mahespur, Sanatan Dehri for Jama, and Kirti Munda for Mandar.

In related developments, the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) has also announced its candidates, while Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Kalpana Soren, wife of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, has filed her nomination for the Gandey constituency. She previously won a by-election in May, defeating BJP’s Dilip Kumar by a significant margin.

The JMM has released a list of 35 candidates for the elections, which will occur in two phases on November 13 and 20. Chief Minister Soren will contest from the Barhait constituency. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has also announced six candidates, following a resolution of seat-sharing issues within the INDIA alliance. The alliance aims to support Hemant Soren’s re-election as Chief Minister. Meanwhile, the BJP has named 66 candidates in its first list.

BJP -: BJP stands for Bharatiya Janata Party, which is one of the major political parties in India. It is known for its focus on Hindu nationalism and economic development.

Two phases -: In elections, ‘two phases’ means that voting will happen on two different days. This is done to manage the voting process better and ensure security.
