CPI MP P Sandosh Kumar Reacts to Jammu and Kashmir Election Results

In New Delhi, CPI MP P Sandosh Kumar expressed his happiness over the results of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. He advised Congress leaders to avoid acting like ‘mass leaders’ or ‘rajas’ and to learn from the election outcomes. Kumar emphasized the need for Congress to understand the situation’s gravity and to be more grounded, citing their defeat in Haryana as a lesson.

The National Conference and Congress alliance achieved a significant victory in the Jammu and Kashmir elections, with the National Conference winning 42 seats, BJP 29 seats, and Congress 6 seats. Seven independent candidates also won. Kumar highlighted the ongoing threat from BJP and RSS, urging Congress to coordinate with all possible forces.

Kumar noted that the CPI expected to receive at least one seat from Congress but faced challenges. He claimed the election results show the people of Kashmir rejected BJP’s policies, especially after the abrogation of Article 370. He called for the immediate restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, viewing the election results as a message to the central BJP government.

In the Haryana Legislative Assembly elections, BJP leads with 37 seats, followed by Congress with 31 seats. The Assembly has 90 seats, with results declared for 71 and 18 still being counted.
