CPI MP P Sandosh Kumar on Jammu and Kashmir Elections and Congress Lessons from Haryana
Communist Party of India (CPI) Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) P Sandosh Kumar shared his views on the recent election results in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have rejected the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This election was significant as it was the first after the abrogation of Article 370. The National Conference won 42 seats, BJP secured 29, Congress got 6, and JK-PDP won 3 seats.
Kumar emphasized the need for the immediate restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, expressing concerns that the BJP might try to control the region through indirect means. He reiterated that this has been the CPI’s stance since the abrogation of Article 370.
Regarding the Haryana elections, Kumar advised the Congress party to adopt a more humble approach. He noted that some Congress leaders need to become more grounded and face reality, as they cannot act like ‘Rajas’ or assume they are mass leaders. In Haryana, the BJP is leading in 48 out of 90 assembly seats, Congress has won 37, four independent candidates have secured seats, and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has won two seats.
