CPI (M) Leader Samir Chakraborty Passes Away at 72 in Agartala
Samir Chakraborty, a prominent leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), passed away at the age of 72 in a private hospital in Agartala. The Tripura State Committee of the All India Kisan Sabha expressed profound grief over his demise.

Chakraborty’s Contributions
Chakraborty faced numerous life-threatening attacks during the Congress-Youth Committee alliance period. He was elected as a councilor in the 1994 municipal elections, marking his first electoral success. He served as the Secretary of the Party’s Sadar Division until 2005 and was the state president of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) from 1981 to 1989.
Kar highlighted Chakraborty’s remarkable skill and dedication as a grassroots leader who managed numerous challenges. His passing is considered a significant loss to the communist movement and the people he served.
