In Bengaluru, Karnataka, former BJP leader CP Yogeshwar has rejoined the Congress party. This significant political move was made in the presence of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. During a press conference, Shivakumar shared that Yogeshwar expressed his desire to return to the Congress, where his political journey began. Arrangements were swiftly made for Yogeshwar to meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other senior Congress leaders.

Yogeshwar, a five-time former MLA from Channapatna, had previously left Congress for the BJP. However, the recent alliance between BJP and JDS prompted his return to Congress. He expressed gratitude to former MP DK Suresh for facilitating his return. Yogeshwar is now expected to be a Congress candidate for the Channapatna seat, a position vacated by Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy.

Deputy CM DK Shivakumar announced that nominations for the Channapatna by-elections would be submitted soon, with two names being considered for the Congress ticket. The Channapatna seat is a focal point of competition between prominent Vokkaliga leaders, DK Shivakumar and HD Kumaraswamy.
