New Delhi, India, July 1: CP Joshi, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan, criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his remarks in Parliament. Joshi described Gandhi’s comments as reprehensible and wrong, demanding an apology from the newly elected Leader of Opposition.

Joshi accused Gandhi of defaming Hinduism and Hindus to serve his political interests. He stated, “Making such untrue and baseless statements that Hindus spread violence, lies, and hatred is completely reprehensible and wrong. This statement is not only an insult to the basic teachings of Hinduism but is also an attempt to spread unrest and division in society.”

Joshi emphasized the non-violent nature of Hinduism, quoting, “Hinsaayam duyate ya sa Hindu,” which means that a true Hindu stays away from violence in mind, words, and deeds. He expressed pride in his Hindu heritage and called for Gandhi to apologize for his statement.

Joshi further accused the Congress party of suppressing Hindus and criticized Gandhi for labeling Hindus as violent. He highlighted that Hinduism promotes non-violence, tolerance, and compassion towards all living beings, and has been fostering co-existence and diversity for centuries.

In his parliamentary speech, Rahul Gandhi had targeted the BJP-led government, alleging a systematic attack on the idea of India, the Constitution, and those who resisted this attack. He claimed that many leaders were personally attacked and some were still in jail. Gandhi also criticized the concentration of power and wealth, and the aggression towards the poor, Dalits, and minorities.

Gandhi described the Congress symbol, Abhayamudra, as a gesture of fearlessness and reassurance, promoting non-violence and dispelling fear. He argued that those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, and untruth, and stated, “Aap Hindu ho hi nahi.” He also clarified that the BJP, RSS, and Narendra Modi do not represent the entire Hindu society.
