Court to Decide on Summoning Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejaswi Yadav in Land for Job Case

New Delhi, September 7: The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi is set to announce its decision on summoning Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejaswi Yadav, and others in the land for job money laundering case at 2 PM on Saturday. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has submitted a supplementary charge sheet in this case.

Death of Co-Accused

The ED informed the court that Lallan Chaudhary, one of the co-accused, has passed away in July 2024. His wife confirmed his death, and the post-mortem report has been submitted. However, the death certificate is yet to be issued by the panchayat. The court had earlier directed the ED to file the death certificate by the next hearing date.

Additional Accused

The supplementary complaint includes additional accused Nos. 8 to 16. Accused No. 17 (Kisun Deo Rai) and 18 (Lal Babu Rai) have also passed away, and their death certificates have been filed. The court noted that no death certificate for Lallan Chaudhary has been filed yet, only a police report regarding his death.

Summoning Order

On August 17, the court reserved its order on summoning former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav, and others. The ED had filed a supplementary charge sheet on August 6, naming several individuals, including Lallan Chaudhary, Hazari Rai, Dharmender Kumar, and others. The charge sheet includes 96 documents.

Previous Court Directions

In April, the court directed the ED to conclude its investigation within two weeks. Former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, her daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav, and others have already been charge-sheeted. The court granted regular bail to Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, Hema Yadav, and Hridyanand Chaudhary on February 28.

Details of the Case

The case involves allegations that several land parcels were acquired by the family of Lalu Prasad Yadav in exchange for railway jobs. The ED’s investigation revealed that the current market value of these land parcels is over Rs 200 crore. The property in New Friends Colony, Delhi, registered in the name of M/s A B Exports Private Limited, is being used as a residence by Tejaswi Prasad Yadav.

The ED also found that lands acquired from poor applicants were sold at a significant profit, with the proceeds transferred to Tejaswi Prasad Yadav’s account. The investigation revealed that more than 50% of recruited candidates in some railway zones were from Lalu Yadav’s constituencies.
