Court Takes Action Against BRS Leader K Kavitha in Delhi Excise Policy Case

The Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi has acknowledged a supplementary chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against BRS leader K Kavitha in the Delhi Excise Policy case. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, after reviewing the chargesheet, instructed the police to present K Kavitha before the court via video conferencing on July 26 at 2 PM.

Meanwhile, the court extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia and other accused until July 26. The court also ordered that a copy of the supplementary chargesheet be provided to the counsel for K Kavitha and others. The next hearing will focus on the scrutiny of documents.

On July 8, the court had reserved an order on the cognizance of the chargesheet, which is the third supplementary chargesheet in this case. Advocate DP Singh stated that the offense’s cognizance had already been taken and highlighted the involvement of the South Group under Kavitha’s command. Statements from TDP MP Magunta S Reddy, his son Raghav Magunta, Sarath Reddy, and Gopi Kumaran were mentioned as evidence against Kavitha.

The CBI filed the third supplementary chargesheet on June 6. K Kavitha is currently in judicial custody in both CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) cases. She was first arrested by the ED on March 15 and later by the CBI on April 11. The hearing on her default bail plea has been postponed to August 5.
