Court Reviews Charges Against Bibhav Kumar in Swati Maliwal Assault Case
The Tis Hazari court in New Delhi has taken cognizance of the charge sheet filed against Bibhav Kumar. The Delhi Police submitted the charge sheet on July 16, and Judicial Magistrate First Class Gaurav Goyal reviewed it. The next hearing is scheduled for August 24.
Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava represented the Delhi Police. The charge sheet includes sections 308, 354, 354 B, 506, 509, and 341 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with Section 201. Evidence includes Kumar’s mobile phone, SIM card, and CCTV footage from the Chief Minister’s residence.
The charge sheet is 500 pages long, with 100 people examined and 50 made witnesses. The court has directed jail authorities to produce Kumar via video conferencing for the next hearing. Kumar, in judicial custody since May 18, has had multiple bail pleas dismissed.
